About Us
Hello, my name is Tiscar Valles. I am an artist who works primarily in Impressionism and Realism, specializing in portraits, landscapes, and murals across a wide range of themes.
I have experience in art exhibitions, teaching, and sales, and I work confidently with oil painting, pastel, drawing, and acrylics. I am comfortable using a variety of materials and working on virtually any surface.
My artistic influences come first from my home country and from the many places where I have lived for extended periods. I am inspired by artists such as Dalí and Sorolla, as well as other European Impressionist painters. Over time, I have blended these influences with my deep appreciation for the American Western landscape, shaped by my travels through the vineyards of Northern California and my profound connection to the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone, which continue to inspire my work.
My artistic journey began in childhood with drawing, oil, pastel, and watercolor. I learned alongside my mother, who owned an art studio and is an exceptional artist and portrait painter. Through her, I was also introduced to sculpture, which further enriched my artistic foundation.
Skills & Abilities
Portrait Painting
I have been painting portraits throughout my life and have worked professionally on commissioned client portraits for over thirty-five years.
Painting Instructor
I bring twenty-five years of professional experience as an art instructor, teaching in both Arizona and Madrid, where I also owned and operated my own art studio. More recently, I have organized and led weekly painting events at various venues across the state of Arizona, consistently supporting local businesses in the Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Fountain Hills areas.
Mural Painting
I have completed numerous large-scale murals in both Realist and Impressionist styles, with a strong focus on landscape painting and a particular expertise in depicting Arizona scenery. After more than fourteen years as an Arizona resident, the desert landscape has become second nature to me—I can envision it with my eyes closed and continue to be inspired by its unique beauty.
One of my murals can be viewed at the New Mexican restaurant Los Dos Molinos in Mesa, where I also painted a portrait of the founder, Victoria Chavez. Additional murals include a public meditation room in Scottsdale, as well as a private residential mural in Phoenix, featuring an Arizona valley with the Superstition Mountains and lifelike saguaro cacti.
